We had a great October meeting!

We had a great meeting Thursday. Our speaker was Dr. Chris Mayer, Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Toledo’s Lake Erie Center. Dr. Mayer spoke to our group about grass carp spawning in the Lake Erie watershed. Grass carp are an invasive species that can be very destructive to wetlands and the plants within the wetlands, which are a natural filter for absorbing excess nutrients entering the watershed.

The winner of the fly raffle this month was Ashley Abate-Berry. Our speaker drew Ashley’s fly out of the bag, making her the lucky recipient of a lot of great flies.

Just a reminder, we won’t have a regular meeting in November as we are having out annual banquet at Rockwell Springs Trout Club on Saturday, November 3. All of the overnight rooms at the club are sold out but there are still tickets available for the banquet. You can download a registration form from our web site our on our Facebook event page.
